Do you have it?<<else>>Let's look at your utility bill.<</if>>

Most people don’t fully understand why our electricity rates keep going up. <<linkreplace "Want to know why?">>The utilities have a big problem; they have to transport the power hundreds of miles from where it’s created to where it’s actually being used in our homes. To do that, they have to build and maintain an enormous infrastructure. They spend billions every year because they have to constantly repair and expand this distribution network. These costs are what they use to justify increasing our prices year after year.<</linkreplace>>
At Tesla, we offer a better way. We generate electricity on your roof, send it directly into your home, and tell you exactly what your cost/rate will be for years to come! This gives you predictability, control, and protection against the rising costs from the utility. Pretty amazing, right?
So we have a couple different solutions that can help you. I just have a few questions I’d like to ask that will guide us toward the best fit.

Based on what you've told me, it definitely seems like we have a solution for you.
<<if $time == "forever">>Since you plan to stay in your home for many years, you'd benefit from locking in your electricity rates now.<<elseif $time == "someday", "soon">>If you don't stay in this home, there are several options available. <<if $own == "yes">>We have a great option if you're interested in owning your system, but don't have the cash available up front. We work with solar lending partners to help you finance your system.<<elseif $own == "no">>If owning the system isn't as important, we have options where you can just purchase the power you generate, and Tesla will own the system.<<else>>We have options where you can own your system outright, or just purchase the power from a system Tesla owns.<</if>>
<<if $hoa == "yes">>We have a dedicated team experienced in handling paperwork and issues that can arise when dealing with your HOA. Rest assured, we're here to support you throughout the process.
<</if>>
<<if $tax == "yes">>Since you have a tax liability, you may be able to benefit from the Investment Tax Credit. Purchasing the system may have tax savings for you.<<elseif $tax == "no">>
Since you don't currently have a tax liability, owning a system may not make the most sense for your situation. Consult a tax advisor for more specific details, but purchasing only the power you use might be your best bet.<<else>>A tax advisor can help explain the current incentives that are available to you.<</if>>
I'll make some adjustments to the design based on what I saw outside, and then I'll show you your personalized proposal. It sounds like either a Power Purchase Agreement or a Solar Loan will work for you. Which contract type do you prefer?

<<link [[I like the sound of Solar Loan, can you tell me more?|SolarLoan><<set $contract = 'loan'>><
>
<<link [[I like the sound of the Power Purchase Agreement, can you tell me more?|PPA><<set $contract = 'ppa'>><
>
[[I'm still not sure. Can I compare my options?|Compare]]
Sally Sunshine says:

<<if visited("PPA")>>If I'm understanding you correctly, it sounds like the Power Purchase Agreement wasn't the best fit. <</if>>Let's take a look at the Solar Loan proposal.
According to your current utility bill, you're paying about $120 per month with your utility, and it's uncertain how much that will be in the future.
With the Solar Loan program, your total monthly cost will be only $150, which includes your fixed loan payment and the power you still need from the utility. That's just $30 per month more than you're paying right now, and you'll own a $30,000 solar system!
<<linkappend "Let's do the math.">> $30 a month more, for 12 months over 20 years is $7,200. So for $7,200 more than what you'd be paying already, you'll own the system. And that doesn't even take into account if your utility rates rise!<</linkappend>>
The best part is, you're eligible for a $9,000 tax credit. So you're looking at $7,200 spread over 20 years, and a $9,000 credit this year.
<<linkappend "You have a few payment options on the Solar Loan.">> Your monthly payment for the first 18 months will be lower than the rest of the loan term. If you want to keep the lower payment, you can apply the full amount of your tax credit to the loan, and it will stay that amount for the rest of the term. But of course, the tax credit is yours and you can do whatever works best for you.<</linkappend>> There are two term options - a 20 year loan at 4.99% APR, or a 10 year loan at 2.99%. Also, there are no penalties for prepayment, so you can pay off the entire system at any time.

<<link [[Perfect! Solar Loan sounds great!|CreditCheck><<set $contract = 'loan'>><
>
<<link [[I'm not sure. Can you tell me more about the PPA?|PPA><<set $contract = 'ppa'>><
>

<<if visited("SolarLoan")>>If I'm understanding you correctly, it sounds like the Solar Loan contract wasn't the best fit. <</if>>Let's take a look at the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) proposal.
With this type of contract, you make your own power with a system Tesla owns, and only pay for the energy you produce. Rather than pay your utility and watch your bill go up year after year, now you can take control of your energy costs and know exactly what you're paying for the next 20 years.
We offer both a custom solution and a Pay As You Go plan. The custom plan locks in a fixed rate for the next 20 years; many customers choose this option because their bill will literally never increase in 20 years. The Pay As You Go plan starts with a lower rate and slowly increases over time. People like this plan because they want to pay less now.

<</linkappend>>
<<linkappend "The next step is to conduct a site survey.">> With the information gathered our professional design team will create a custom design that you will review. Then, once you’ve approved the design, we will submit for the building permits at our expense.<</linkappend>>
Once we have the permit, we can schedule your installation, which will only take a day or two. Our goal is to have your system turned on within a few months.
After the system has been installed, there will be an inspection to verify all of our work is up to code. Now here’s the best part, we take the final permit to the utility and that permit requires them to place a meter on your home that gives you credit for all of the power your system generates that you don’t immediately use. This is called Net Metering.

When the day of the survey comes, a member of our survey team will arrive during this 2-hour time window. They are going to verify if your home is compatible for an upgrade to solar power in its existing condition. Once they arrive, the survey will usually last a few hours. They will take lots of pictures for our design team, inspect your electrical system, take measurements on the roof, and verify how much space you have on your roof for the panels. We take safety very seriously, so they will be harnessed in and anchored to your roof. We want to make sure that your home can structurally support a solar system. So, they will need access to your attic or crawl space if you have one. If everything looks good, we will proceed to the next step and get started on the design.

*<<linkappend "The base cost of a relocation amounts to $998.">>
*The first $499 is billed upon contract signing and is applied towards the audit and design of the panels on the new roof structure.
*Once the new location is verified to be a valid relocation site by the Engineering Department, the actual removal and reinstallation will cost an additional $499.
*If the audit determines that additional upgrades will be needed before the system can be installed (i.e. rafter upgrades, main panel upgrades, re-roof), these costs will be included in addition to the $998.<</linkappend>>
*<<linkappend "There are several requirements that MUST be met in order to move forward with a System Relocation.">>
*The new location must be in the same utility district.
*Utility must approve the relocation (some utilities do not allow it).
*The system’s performance, in the new location, must be equal or greater than the contract’s performance guarantee.
*The new location must be structurally supportive of a solar system.<</linkappend>>
*<<linkappend "The timing from full audit to re-design is 4 weeks.">>
*After design completion, the timeline can take anywhere from 3 to 5 months before interconnection.
